About Us
Heart and Hands Ministries is dedicated to meeting the needs of people in Salado and surrounding communities. In addition to distributing food, we also organize various events that aim to strengthen the social fabric of our community. These events include Senior Lunch Bunch, the Apple Tree Project, and Life-Skills classes that are held in conjunction with Salado ISD. Believing that a healthy and vibrant community is not just about providing access to food, but it is also about creating opportunities for people to come together, learn from each other, and build meaningful relationships. Heart and Hands Ministries of Salado began in the early 1990’s when the pastor of First Baptist Church and his wife saw a need in the community. They felt called to action. The first bag of food was distributed from a small building at the church. The following years have brought many positive changes thanks to committed volunteers and lots of prayers.
As the Salado community grew, so did its needs. Heart and Hands felt it necessary to relocate the pantry to a larger, more centralized facility. In the fall of 2017, they were blessed to open the 213 Mill Creek Drive pantry in the Brookshire Plaza. On April 8, 2021, their 501c3 designation was secured. This expansion brought additional support from our local churches and many generous individuals.
Heart and Hands Ministries continues to seek ways to serve the ever-changing needs of the growing Salado community.
